When we have strong winds and a sunny day Maple Gardens State Park offers a field for kite flying.
Maple Gardens State Park has a 10 mile (about 16 kilometers) trail. The trail starts near the entrance, goes around one of the lakes, into the forest, over a few hills, and ends right in front of a beautiful view of the park. Hiking the trail is completely free, however, please refrain from petting any animals you may see during your hike.
Maple Gardens State Park has 2 big lakes for fishing and the lakes offer: bass, trout, and catfish. The fishing policy is catch and release until the month of June through August. When it is the designated months each person is allowed to take 5 fish. We do rent fishing rods and we offer a variety of baits.
Maple Gardens State Park offers many camp sites for any type of camper. The campsite has a small fire pit, a wooden bench, and a lot for a tent. We do offer a small batch of fire wood for everyone that rents a lot. However, we do not offer any camping equipment such as tents, lanturns, sleeping bags, and air mattresses.
Maple Gardens State Park offers horseback riding for everyone, alone or in groups. We do allow horses to be pet and fed by you! We also have a specific area for children if they want to ride a horse alone in a small pen. Horses can be ridden from 9 AM to 6 PM. All horse riding is free and is a first come first serve each rider is given a maximum of 2 hour sessions.
When the weather permits Maple Gardens State Park offers canoeing to anyone who wants to enjoy the waters. Our lakes are open from 6 AM to 9 PM. Canoeing is free and is a first come first serve for everyone. We offer canoes with a max capacity of 5 people and a maximum session of 3 hours. If there is any sign of heavy precipitation or thunder the lakes will be closed.
Maple Gardens State Park has a large field for kite flying and it is perfect for picnics. Bring your kite and show off to everyone around and the best kite, that can still fly, will be awarded a kite of the month. The owner of the kite of the month will receive a reserved canoe and horse for up to two people for the month. We do rent out different size kites for everyone.
